Just watched the Glenn Beck interview with Leno... he's either lying to Leno or lying every time he speaks on FoxNews. You can't have it both ways, Glenn. You are on a totally neocon opinion network for a living. That's fine, but you shouldn't act like you're some moderate Libertarian when your actions and words paint a different picture.
ReplyDeleteHe says all these things to Jay Leno, but watch one episode of him on TV or listen to his radio program and you will hear a fiercely bitter, divisive, arrogant, ignorant man who spews bigotry from his mouth in between his glib remarks and criticisms that never seem to have a solution offered beyond joining his 9/12 club, going to a FoxNews sponsored teabagger party, or buying one of his books.
Glenn Beck is a millionaire many times over (18 times in 2009 alone), and that is great. I love that in America anyone can become wealthy doing pretty much whatever they please. But at a certain point, this fake modesty act needs to cease. He criticizes Bush and Obama for being rich and elite, yet he himself has ammassed generational wealth. With 18 million dollars, his kids, and maybe even their kids, will not have to work - at least not like everyone I grew up with who spent their summers sweating over french fries and their winters keeping their heat at 60 degrees to keep the bills affordable. Again, the money is not the problem. The crux of the money issue is that someone who has millions of dollars, a powerful voice in the media, and a large cult following cannot claim to be a "regular guy." He may try to act like one on fluffy talk shows like Leno, but Beck is part of the elite corporate media, and on the left and right their agendas are routinely bought and sold by exploiting public opinion, sensationalizing, and lying. I say again, the Left and the Right (I'm looking at you too, Keith Olbermann).
This interview did little for me beyond shed light onto how far Glenn Beck will go to try and remain relevant as advertisers bail and attendance at tea parties wanes. I don't hate the guy, he comes off likable enough to chat with for 10 minutes, but he tells a very different story at 10 pm on NBC than he does at 5 pm on FoxNews.

Hey Dave, are you a Flaming Lips Fan? I ask because the only reason I've ever wanted to go to OKC is to see the Lips New Year's Show (ok, I'd also like to see their March of 1,000 Skeletons at Halloween).
