ReplyDeleteIMO, guys with beards are hot. Yeah, used to dig the dudes who were clean cut in appearance, but not so much. I think I've heard the Jesus comparison maybe like once or twice for guys. So, what are the chicks with beards compared to?
Aaack, couldn't get to last weeks show in enough time to post about Bono. Yeah, Bono can be pretty self centered, but he's out there putting out a message and trying to raise money. Come on, quite a few of these charities don't work because they aren't teaching people how to fish.
No on really understands the nature of God. So, trying to pin Him down is pointless.
Hey, Christian Rock now is pretty banging stuff. I'm loving on Switchfoot, Reliant K, Jeremy Camp, Firelight, and Fly Leaf.
Move to Texas. Beer is in Wal-Mart, gas stations, it's freaking everywhere!
The Tea Party Movement is BS, Period. They are going to take the independent vote away from the Libertarians. If most of these people would do some research they would find that the same reasons that they want to leave the two party system is the backbone of the Libertarian movement. Less Taxes, less government, less envolvement in overseas affairs. I like the Idea of protesting government, but bringing a teabag to a soapbox isn't getting anything accomplished except watering down the independent votes to the point where they don't count for crap. Educate yourself before you vote. If you refuse to educate yourself and just vote for a trend, Don't vote, just die.
ReplyDelete@ Robby: We ask weird questions so that our friends will laugh. Some are normal. Enjoy your crown!
ReplyDelete@ Parker: Agreed. Libertarianism does not need to be bullshitified by a bunch of teabagging morons. Ron Paul said all the Libertarian stuff, and his "party" of Republicans painted him as a kook! Probably because he isn't a corporate whore like the rest of the two party douches. I am scared of the 2012 election, but it's not like anything will be different...
GE, oil, telecomm, and other huge corporations and lobbies often give money equally to Dems and Repubs because they can hedge their bets. Regardless of who wins the election, big donors can always say "Hey, remember that million? Vote our way." It's utter bullshit, and now it's just going to be worse. The government is going to basically be a one party system with only the illusion of choice (which is pretty much how it's been in my lifetime anyway). There won't be an atheist president, there won't be a lesbian, there won't be a poor or middle class person, there won't be a viable third party, and there won't be progress. The White House might as well be painted with logos like NASCAR. All the Congress people should have to have corporate sponsors in plain sight.
Not like it matters, because there's always a distraction... balloon boy, Iraq, olympics, super bowl, E channel, TV, porn, church, it's all the same. It keeps us numb and obedient. The revolution will be televised, and it will be on FoxNews, and we'll only be allowed to organize in "free speech zones" because our rights have been taken systematically under the guise of homeland security. I'm not a liberal, I just think. I use my brain. It's called not accepting things just because mommy, daddy, preacher, or TV say their true. Although if Parker, Fred, or Phil say it I tend to mindlessly obey, only because they are the last bastion of common sense and wisdom in my life........ AHHHHHHHHH!
Absolutely, the two party system is a sham. Has been for decades. I think that is truly the reason the Tea Party came about. There are too many independents now and big buisness and the government needed a way to make their votes count even less in order to stay in control. I would like to think that the Libertarian party actually stands a chance in 2012, but that is just a pipe dream. IF Obama doesn't win, it will just be another elitist douchebag who thinks he/she knows how to spend our money better than we do. These little Tea Party movements make me sick. If you want to protest, it can't be orderly. You have to rattle the cage to be noticed. They take the name from one of the most violent revolts in American history. They clean it up a bit for school children, but there was more than just Tea spilt in the Boston harbor. If we just stand on a soapbox and say "Gosh darn it, we're mad" nothing is going to change. It's unfortunate that the revolution will be televised, but nobody will watch because there will probably be a new American Idol or washed up celebrity dance off.
ReplyDeleteOn a brighter note, the PS3 is awesome. I'm pretty sure it will be the winner of the system war in the long run. Their motion controller will hit stores by this fall. If it isn't cheesy or entirely too much $$$, I see sales going through the roof. There will be no reason to buy a Wii (except that the new Mario game is great). In my opinion, The PS3 already blows the 360 out of the water. I am a bit biased, though, as I am a lifelong Sony guy. But the BluRay just puts it over the top.
I don't really belong to either side, so I've pretty much counted myself as Independent. However, I don't think Liberterian is where I'm at. Parker, I agree, you should research who you vote for. Surprisingly, in the area of Texas that I currently reside, there's a LARGE Dem following here. Amarillo doesn't seem to follow the rest of Texas. There is a growing movement for Indies out here, which is nice. I don't really like the idea that two parties can contain my beliefs. It's just stupid.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a revolution happen, like maybe people thinking for themselves. Too much sheep like behavior
PARKER GETS THE QOTW!!! Awesome! Nest week's QOTW will be a two part question, and only one person can get either part. STAY TUNED!!!
ReplyDeleteTHE SUSPENSE! I can't handle it Dave, just too much for Ali
ReplyDeleteyou're right, I do feel cooler!
ReplyDeleteI'm technically an independent, but I'm a Democratic Socialist, so I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum from what most people consider "independent". Dave, I just wanted to point out that Fox did not usurp the Teabagger movement, they created it. It's corporate manufactured at its root, with ignorant racists and old people forming the visible portion.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I have something to point out about being Indie and doing whatever the heck I want. So, this past Presidential Election, I was going to just write a name in for a candidate. I was actually denied the opportunity to do so on the ballot. They had a LIST I had to chose from. What the heck is that?! Thankfully I did some research on other parties that were available to vote for, but I walked away pretty pissed off. Stinking Texas! Did anyone else notice this on their ballots? Oh yeah, it's just about time for early vote this year, but I think I'm just going to hold out till it's the actual day for it. I've still got quite a bit of research to do on our candidates.
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to write in a vote, you might as well not vote at all. That is probably the thinking in the list of "Write ins". If the person you wanted wasn't on that list, he/she probably would have gotten as many votes as Kermit the Frog. However, that is the strength of the "Independent" vote in our era. The media likes to make it look like the indie vote can swing an election, but really it's just too spread out to make a difference. For the last 20 or so years, it has been Nader that has done the worst damage to the middle ground voter.
ReplyDeleteI just don't agree with it. I wasn't impressed with either parties this past election. However, if they're going to say that you can write in, you should be able to write in. Giving me a list still says to me that I have to chose from what someone else deems are my best options. I'm not always going to agree with that.
ReplyDeleteI know that media has aLOT to do with the fact that I don't see enough coverage of other political parties available to me, so I'm left to my own to research. Would it kill them to help an Indie out once in a while? Maybe someone could start another news channel that doesn't focus solely on the Dems or Reps, but offers insight to other options. Hmm, that would be nice.
I did not get the question of the week last week. I am becoming a regular listener. Has become part of my regular monday morning listening at work.
ReplyDelete@John: You know you could have hit up the dirty bird for your chicken patties instead of the malicious company known as walmart..
...Plus G-Ville's Giant Eagle is locally owned and not corpratized, so that ought to make your hippy bleeding GHL heart proud.
ReplyDeleteGiant Eagle is a 100% better option, but not 24 hours. As a GHL, I refuse to bow down to society's traditional meal times. I rage against dinner at 6 pm! Let them eat adult baby food at 11 pm!
ReplyDeleteYou probably refuse to bow down to society's traditional wake up time too then right?
ReplyDelete@John: I hate to give you fuel for the fire but i kinda laughed when you were making fun of the people that go to the gym at like 5am during the week because believe it or not I am one of those. Dennis can verify this being the Manager he is. So for someone that is awake during somewhat normal hours Giant Eagles serves me just fine!
I would like to be an early riser and get the workout out of the way by 10 am, but the Sopranos are on at 8 and I have class at 10... I admire people who get up, I'm just not one of them.
ReplyDeleteI'm up early too Nate. Like 4:30 early, so not far off from you. Some mornings, I'm more like John and won't get up.
ReplyDelete@Ali: Yeah I am normally out of bed at 4:15 and at the gym around 5 during the week. Just have to realize that you have to go to bed early to get up early. haha.
ReplyDelete@John: if you get up early enough you could clearly have your workout in, be showered and back home to watch sopranos at 8. i mean i make it to work by 7 most of the time.
I'm soo mad i didn't listen to last weeks show.. i totally know the Diver stuff, and your drummer boy. No memories better that rockin out in the Methodist Church.
ReplyDelete@Nate: I'm up early for the same reason you are. Man, yeah, I don't like going to bed early 'cause sometimes I miss my favorite show, but I'll fall asleep on the couch if I'm not careful. Almost did that last night. However, if I want a good workout, it's got to happen. I do mine at home because I don't want to wake my kid up that early to make her go to the gym with me.
ReplyDelete@Nate: Also, we are talking about Nate Troxell, not Nate Milliren
ReplyDeleteAli, if you're interested in indy news, you should check out the Independent Media Center at indymedia.org.
