  1. I agree with you John about Verizon. I feel like each time I get my bill, I'm getting boned. I'm lucky enough to have gotten my phone 2 weeks before they started the mandatory data plans, so I don't have that, but when my contract is up, I'm thinking about maybe going to Sprint. I do not get cell reception at my house, and I do not want to pay for a data plan that I'm not going to use. Also, with Sprint, for now, I can get unlimited everything (minutes to any cell, text, and data) for like 80 bucks.
The video about Lynzie Kent is awesome. I'm going to keep a look out for her, and if you notice anything new, I would like to see it! She has a great voice.
Yuengling! I love to drink it, and evidently so does the president! I don't mind the light, but I definitely prefer the lager. I also prefer the bottle over the can. I think the light beer is a red can and the lager is still the sweet looking tan can.
I never thought of your point, John, about the health care comparing it to car insurance. That is a good way to look at it. I, personally, like the fact that everyone is going to have health care. Some states, like Massachusetts, already has a policy in place that every person living there has to have a form of health care.
Video game OTW looks awesome! When I first started reading, I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but after reading the article, the game looks really sweet. It is a game that I will be watching to come out in the next 2 years.

  2. @Nick: I believe that is correct. Enjoy the + Club, cause I think you're in!

I am curious about the people that "have to" drive. I am seriously contemplating selling my Jeep and never owning a car again. In the event I must drive, I can rent or seek out rides, use public, or figure something out. Cars take up all our money, keep us dependent on oil (foreign or domestic), and are just an enormous waste in general. I don't really personally know anybody who drives more than 10 miles to work. I think owning a car is just a vanity thing. And a laziness thing.

Change is never welcomed in politics, or in general by a lot of people. Civil rights, prohibition and its repeal, women's suffrage, the New Deal, etc. were all policies that were hated on. I'm not saying the health care bill is perfect, or even good, but it's something... Obama said he wanted to do it, and he did it. If he is not re-elected in 2012, or the bill gets repealed, than that is what the people want when they vote. I like that we get re-do's all the time in politics. Just like the policies they make, our government is not perfect. But it beats living in North Korea...

  3. I only live 7 miles from work. I need a vehicle. I have a river (or two depending on the route I take) to cross and a mountain to climb or tunnel which you can't bike across. There happens to be a bus stop practically across the street from me, but It stops going to Greentree before I have to be to work at midnight. However, even if there was a bus I could take, I would still own my truck. It's more than just a ride to work, it's an investment. It's money that I don't have to give grayhound every time I want to go to Greenville, or cab fair for when I want to go out to eat, or Rental fees when I need to move, or delivery fees when I buy something. It's also just good to have the extra time. Would you really want to wait at multiple bus stops when you could probably have just walked there faster? People who ride the bus to work have to leave a half hour earlier than I do and they mostly live closer than I do. If you have to be somewhere fast you are almost forced to take a cab, which is still slow to get to you and costs a lot of money. My time is much more valuable to me than that.

  4. I think I could ride my bike to work if I didn't have to worry about dropping my kid off at mom's in the mornings. Once she's old enough, I might consider it. It's 11 miles to work from my place.

The FSA thing is cool if you use it. It's a use or lose at the end of the year. I have an HSA account that carries over from year to year and you basically have a debit type card to use for paying your co-op and meds with. What some insurance companies do that aLOT of people don't know about is that FSA can cover the cost of child daycare, day camp, and any dependents that require care. I think our United Healthcare covers up to $5000 a year for that. I was just talking to a guy at work about this yesterday. Most people at work don't know about this option and it's kind of a bit of a boiling point for me. I'm a single mom, I wish I would have known about this WAY sooner.
