I had the best idea yesterday concerning politics to save tax money and I wanted to share it with the people of am1980 so that I could get an idea of the negatives of this plan. When you have a good Idea, it is hard to see the faults, though there are faults with every good idea. Here it is: Virtual Capital Hill. Think of all of the $$$ spent on the commute from DC to the reps and sens. respective states. We have the technology to do all of the voting and meetings through teleconfrences. A lot of companies are saving money by doing th...e same exact thing. The great side efect to my idea is that they would have to stay with their constituents. They would be in their home states much more so they would be in DC (AKA Lobbiest's home field) much less. More time with their voters, less time with the lobbiests and less money spent on wasteful travel. It also means less emissions for those who still believe in the global warming scare tactic. It is a win, win, win situation except for the elite and the lobbiests which is why it will never happen.

ReplyDelete@Parker: I don't really see a downside to your plan. But those guys love DC. It's their playground. They get to cheat on their wives, eat at fancy restaurants, and feel really important. The only bad thing is that they'd never do it. Too much accountability if they're at home, not enough perks for their greedy asses. Good idea. E-mail it to the White House man, you've got nothing to lose.
