Florida has a long history of racism dating back to the times of slavery. It is common knowledge that this social divide its a result of years of oppression to the minorities. That said, racism will always be present where there is diversity. I live in a community that is perhaps one of the most diverse cities in the United States. And although every person who is from outside the United States has the understanding that Americans are whitewashed idiots, we all give them a chance to prove that stereotype wrong. Sometimes they do, but sadly not often enough. Now, David, the Economy of Florida is heavily based on Agriculture, and if you have bothered to pay any attention to your surrounding these past few years, you may have noticed that agriculture in Florida, specially south Florida, faces many challenges; both political and environmental. I highly disagree with your statement that the "laziness" of the state leads to acts of racism. Now John, I live with an European and even she said Europe is overrated. Go to Italy, I guarantee you it smells like sewer. Paris smells like merde and its always raining London. Do we go to Europe to get "cultured"? If for culture one would travel to Europe, one might perhaps consider China or Russia. I find their dynasties more intriguing. Great podcast.
